Classically typey, moderate, correct size and proportions (24”at the withers / Avg. 71 lbs.) · Nicely marked, darkly pigmented coat, skin, and eyes. Nike has a good, moderately angulated and well-laid-back front assembly; is balanced front-to-rear, with VERY CLEAN movement both down-and-back and on the go around. He has level topline and good tail set. Most often commented on are his strikingly beautiful headpiece and expression. He is clean and classic in type and style.
Very birdy and a highly intelligent problem solver. Probably the smartest and most intuitive Shorthair I’ve ever owned. Great nose, focus, and problem-solving skills both in the field, and at home. Strong, fast, and athletic in the field and water, and can still jump high enough to “wave ‘HI!’” to the neighbor dog on the other side of our 6-foot wooden fence )). Very tractable and excellent at obedience work, despite having a handler (me) who lacks the interest and attention- span to pursue it competitively. Delightful, confident, cheerful, energy-filled, but workman-like disposition at any task (including in the show ring), and a terrific and engaging sense of humor. He loves flirting and playing with most other dogs, and – at worst has simply grumbled or barked a warning, grumbled, or “struck a pose” at a couple of other dogs he was not terribly fond of, or who seemed threatening.
Huge heart; always absolutely confident, and outgoing with a big sense of fun and humor and enjoys editorializing about nearly everything. Loves to show, hunt, enthusiastic and competitive about ANY job or game. Nurturing of puppies and little kids (and me 8-).
